Black Community called upon to unite and protect its youths

On the eve of Christmas and the New Year, two stories have caught my attention. This year African Caribbean pupils enjoyed their best exam results for years. And Faith Magazine recently published a list of black people who were murdered in England during 2007. There were seventy two, of which over fifty were teenagers, one only eleven. Children are our future, and we have literally witnessed in the past year, a significant part of that future vanish before our eyes.

Introduction
May I say how pleased I am to be able to join you on the occasion of the opening of this new centre. Allow me for a few minutes to say something about where I believe this initiative sits in regards to a) the importance of education, b) hard to reach groups, and c) the importance of partnership.
